Ampelmann assists offshore wind turbine installation in the North Sea
After a successful trial in September last year, where the Ampelmann A-02 was mounted on the DP-2 heavy lift vessel Jumbo Javelin, the installation of several dozens of Transition Pieces (TP) for a Wind farm in the North Sea has just recently started. Once the TP has been lifted over the turbine foundation, the gap between the TP and the foundation is filled with grout to fixate it. The Ampelmann gangway is used to support the grout hose during the grouting process and to provide access to the TP simultaneously. All transition pieces are expected to be installed in the summer of 2010.
