Over a decade ago, moving personnel onto offshore structures was a cumbersome and sometimes hazardous operation. As a result of motion compensation research at Delft University, Ampelmann was founded in 2007 and the game-changing ‘A-type’ was launched with the objective of providing safe, fast and easy offshore access between vessels and offshore structures.
This paper charts the developments and innovations at Ampelmann as it celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2017, and looks at how the company continues to adapt its offering to meet the needs of clients.
